The book has some very interesting cases that he encountered, and really does make you wonder if there is actually something to the UFO sightings ! However the way the author organizes his book, and writes about the data in a scientific format makes the book a hard read. Granted he is a genuine scientist , but he could have retained an actual writer to make the book more interesting. I felt like I was reading a scientific paper , meant for his peers.
Reading this book and watching the “Project Blue Book†series is very interesting
Project Blue Book intrigues me. Very good book so far.
Hynek's approach is to question the Air Force's motivation and investigative technique in researching reported UFO sightings. He finds fault with himself, as well. While it does not prove the case of UFOs being extraterrestial, it does suggest a more thorough study would go a long way toward solving the issue.
Straightforward and balanced, makes ufo agnostics really scratch their heads. Great insight into the military mindset and complete anti ufo bias. Worth reading for those of us interested in the phenomenon, real or not.
